Philippe Snel has been active as a business lawyer in China for more than 15 years and started his China practice in 2001. Since 2004 he is permanently established in Shanghai.
As one of the few senior foreign lawyers in Shanghai he has assisted numerous foreign investors to establish, develop and operate their businesses in China. Philippe mainly advises in the fields of corporate law, compliance and technology transfer.
He is a regular speaker on all issues related to Sino-European business relations and his opinion in this regard is regularly solicited.
Philippe teaches Intellectual Property & Technology Law at the Shanghai Normal University (Finance & Business School) and is active in several professional and educational organizations such as the Benelux Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (BenCham), Sinnolabs, a business accelerator for European technology companies in China, and the Shanghai French School (Lycée Français de Shanghai), where he currently serves as a Chairman of the board.
He is a member of the Brussels Bar (Nederlandse Orde der Advocaten Brussel) and a registered foreign lawyer with the Shanghai Bureau of Justice.
Philippe is fluent in Dutch, French and English and conversational in Mandarin and German.
Gan Wang is a local partner in charge of the Corporate, Tax and Commercial practices.
After studies in Chinese law and French language, both at the Wuhan University and at the Law Faculty of Clermont-Ferrand (France), Gan Wang pursued his studies at Fudan University (Shanghai) where he obtained a master’s degree in International Law. He passed the China Bar Examination in 2008.
Gan Wang accompanies the setting up and development of Asian enterprises in Europe as well as European companies in Asia. He assists foreign enterprises in the drafting and negotiation of different kinds of commercial contracts under Chinese law, such as distribution agreements, license agreements, lease agreements and transfers of technology.
He also advises in the field of tax law for various cross-border operations and transactions (China-Hong Kong- Singapore-France) of merger & acquisition, restructuring, reorganization, financing, including VAT and withholding tax optimization under the application of international treaties.
He is trilingual in French, English and Mandarin. He is also fluent in Wuhan dialect.
Maggie Jia is local partner in charge of our Employment practice. She is mainly focusing on labour law and social security law. Her expertise covers also the contracts and the corporate compliance matters. Maggie provides legal advices and practical solutions for Private and Foreign invested companies, for employees’ dispatch agencies and for senior managers.
Maggie achieved her Bachelor degree at the East China University of Political Science and Law in 2009 and accomplished in 2012 a Master’s degree in Economic Law at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena in Germany.
She passed the China Bar Examination in September 2012.
Before she joined the firm, she worked and gained experience as a legal assistant and as a lawyer in a well known Chinese law firm in Shanghai for over two years. Maggie is trilingual in English, German and Mandarin.
Dan Xu is local partner in charge of our Intellectual Property practice. She advises on matters in relation to trademark, copyright, patent, unfair competition as well as general IP strategy. She also focuses her practice on legal aspects of foreign direct investment.
Dan obtained her Bachelor degree from the Eastern China University of Political Science and Law (Shanghai) in 2010 and her Master's degree from Leiden University (Netherlands) in 2011.
She then interned at the China Desk of a Dutch law firm in Rotterdam before successfully passing the Chinese Bar Examination in 2012.
Dan is bilingual in English and Mandarin. She is also fluent in Shanghai dialect.
Catherine Cheng is an associate and focuses on legal aspects of labor-related disputes, intellectual property law and foreign direct investment.
Catherine studied at the East China University of Political Science and Law where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree (in the fields of civil and commercial law) in 2012 and her Master’s degree in 2015. She passed the China Bar Examination in 2011.
Before joining our firm, Catherine worked as a legal intern for a US law firm and a large multinational company.
Catherine is bilingual in English and Mandarin. She is also fluent in Shanghai dialect.
Eden Wang is an associate and mainly focuses on legal aspects of corporate-related issues. He also drafts and reviews commercial contracts.
Eden graduated from East China University of Political Science and Law and obtained his Master’s degree of Groningen University in the Netherlands in 2012. He then worked in Amsterdam as a trainee for several months. Eden passed the China Bar Examination in 2010.
Eden is bilingual in English and Mandarin. He is also fluent in Shanghai dialect.
Ying Fang is an associate and mainly focuses on corporate law, company secretary, exchange control provisions, visas and working permits.
After having completed her studies in international finance in Switzerland, Ying Fang continued her studies in Chinese law at East China Normal University. She passed the Chinese Bar examination in 2015.
She started her career in a French company listed among the top 500 global companies and worked in several law firms in Shanghai before joining our firm.
She is trilingual in French, English and Mandarin.
Jingyun Wang obtained a bachelor degree in French Language in 2007, after her studies at the Xi’an International Studies University.
She assists clients with all corporate secretary matters. Specifically she supports with the implementation and deployment of China subsidiaries of European companies and the follow up of formalities and coordination, both in China and Hong Kong.
Before joining the firm as a legal consultant, she was the office manager of a French law firm’s representative office in Shanghai. She is trilingual in French, English and Mandarin. She is also fluent in Shanghai dialect.
Frank Habets is a Dutch legal counsel who mainly focuses on issues in the field of corporate law and contracts.
Frank completed both his bachelor and master in notarial law at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.
Before joining our firm in Shanghai in 2016, Frank worked for 2 years as a candidate civil-law notary at an independent full service law firm based in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
In that role he assisted a wide range of national and international enterprises on all their notarial and corporate legal matters.
Frank is bilingual in Dutch and English.
Ada Hua is an associate and mainly focuses on legal aspects of labour-related and corporate related issues.
Ada graduated from East China University of Political Science and Law, and continued to study at Durham University in the UK where she obtained a Master degree in international trade and commercial law. She passed the China Bar Examination in 2014.
Before joining our firm, Ada worked as a legal intern for a German law firm and a listed central government-owned company.

Terina Nie focuses on legal aspects of labour-related disputes and intellectual property law.
Terina obtained a bachelor’s degree in international economic law from East China University of Political Science and Law and a master’s degree in international trade and commercial law from Durham University, UK.
Before joining our firm, Terina worked as legal intern for large Chinese law firms.

Yves Tavernier is a member of Brussels Bar and a member of the International Bar Association. With over 40 years of experience as a commercial and corporate lawyer, he is dedicated to serve the legal needs of both SME’s and internationally active groups.
Yves has accumulated rich management experiences in an international context, as local board member at Coudert Brothers’ Brussels office, as regional managing partner in DLA Piper Belgium offices and in De Wolf & Partners Law Firm. He is now Of Counsel De Wolf Law Firm Shanghai, stemming from his over 10 years long China experience.
Yves is Board member of the AECA (American European Community Association) and Member of the FCCC (Flanders China Chamber of Commerce). He is co-author of number of publications on corporate law issues and a regular lecturer on «Legal aspects of doing business in China » and «Smart keys to enter the European Market ». Yves is fluent in Dutch, French and English.
François Perruchot-Triboulet is a member of the French Bar with close to 15 years working experience in China.
François specializes in corporate and financial law, in particular, he advises investment funds and entrepreneurs on structuring and reorganization transactions, fundraising, mergers and acquisitions, equity financing, LBOs and financing, due diligence and shareholders’ agreements. He has also worked on spin-offs of technology companies.Based in Shanghai and in Paris, François also advises Chinese investors in Europe, particularly in the field of new technologies and the acquisition or operation of vineyards and provides legal assistance for Chinese technology companies wishing to expand their businesses in Europe.

Zi Wang is of-counsel and a local partner. He obtained a bachelor degree in law from East China University of Political Science and Law, and later a LL.M. degree in European and International Business Law in Leiden University, The Netherlands.
Zi focuses on international and domestic dispute resolution and non-litigation cases, including litigation, arbitration, commercial negotiation, due diligence and risk management from legal perspective.
Before joining De Wolf, Zi has represented clients in many new-type or complicated litigation cases, and has been acting as legal counsel for several enterprises. Meanwhile, Zi also assumes the role of supervisor, as well as legal counsel, of the Tianjin Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai. He is bilingual in Chinese and English.
Lin Ya Cong
Lin Ya Cong is of-counsel and a local partner. She passed the bar examination in 2009 and has started her lawyer practice since 2014. She acts as the legal counsel for several enterprises and has handled numerous complicated lawsuits and non-judicial cases.
The main practice areas of Lin are civil law (in particular family law), corporate legal issues and labor disputes. She provides customized solutions on the basis of different demands, endeavoring to offer “client-centered legal services”.
Lin has obtained a bachelor of Law, Yang-En University, and a master of Law at Northwest University. She is bilingual in Chinese and English.
Xueting Guo is of-counsel and a local partner. She obtained a Bachelor degree in Law from East China University of Political Science and Law; and later a LL.M. degree in International Tax from the International Tax Center, Leiden University, The Netherlands.
Xueting focuses on Transfer Pricing and International Taxation, and has been involved in a variety of cross-border cases including transfer pricing policy and documentation, international tax structures, tax treaty planning, intercompany financial transactions, cash pooling, business reorganizations, etc.
Before joining De Wolf, Xueting has practiced with the International Tax Team of a Big4 firm in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and prior to that as a Transfer Pricing Analyst of a major US multinational. She is bilingual in Chinese and English.
